The Primary Care Program offers a model of health care which emphasizes prevention and health maintenance in addition to the treatment of acute and chronic medical problems. The care of each family’s physical health is provided by a team of internists and pediatricians in a manner that also considers the emotional and social factors which influence overall well-being. In addition to internists and pediatricians, the clinical staff includes a nurse-health educator, psychiatrist, social worker, and child development specialist. Mental health counseling is provided in the Family Development Unit of the program.

The program provides a personalized form of care. Each time you visit the Center you are seen by the same clinicians who get to know you and your family well. A supervised playroom is available for your children while you receive care. Should you require hospitalization, your physician will direct you to an affiliated hospital. Center physicians are on-call and can be reached in the evenings or on weekends through an answering service.

The hours of program operation are 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Monday, Thursday and Friday, and 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition to Medicare and Medicaid, the program currently accepts many of the insurance plans offered by Aetna-US Health Care, Affinity, CenterCare, Cigna, Empire Blue Cross, HealthFirst, Oxford Freedom, Family Health Plus, Fidelis, MetroPlus, and United Health Plan. For further information or an appointment, please call (212) 360-7893 during regular program hours.
