Accountant

 
 
 

The accountant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance of the organization's books, financial reporting, regulatory reports, and analysis projects.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with budget preparation, modification, and financial reporting of all city, state, federal and private grants and analysis

  • Assist with the preparation of department financial reporting such as Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flow, Statement of Functional Expenses, and Fixed Assets ledger

  • Assist with the preparation of Form 990, CHAR500, Form 5500, A133, OASAS CFR and CBR reports, Medicaid AHCF report, and Ad-hoc financial analysis

  • Analyze financial statements to make sure transactions are allocated to the correct account

  • Manage month-end closing procedures and assist with production and analysis of financial statements

  • Oversee payroll processing

  • Oversee accounts payable processing and deposit functions

  • Process receivables and record them onto spreadsheets for analysis

  • Prepare accurate receivables and ensure timely collection of funder payments

  • Deposit checks and post receivables into QuickBooks

  • Process cash flow and A/R monitoring and analysis

  • Provide fiscal audit support for both the agency and grant related audits, including account analysis, year-end closing, and required audit schedules

  • Reconcile accounts using QuickBooks

  • Verify and check expense claims

  • Update and maintain metro card usage onto spreadsheets for analysis

  • Administered transportation to clients using PTAR

  • Other duties as assigned by the Controller

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other related field

  • Ability to take initiative and problem solve

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably with an non-profit organization

  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred

  • Experience with NYS CFR and Medicaid AHCF reports preferred

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and good record-keeping skills

  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP
